The NHS App is owned and run by the NHS. It can be accessed by anyone aged 13 and over registered with an NHS GP surgery in England or Isle of Man.
Once you have verified your NHS login, you will have easy, 24/7 access to a growing range of health services and information. Learn how to register and verify your identity.
If you do not have access to a smartphone, you can access the NHS App via a web browser on your computer or tablet by visiting the NHS website or follow the login link below. How to log into your NHS Account
If you do not have Photo ID please visit the practice so that they can provide you with your verification details. Learn how to log in without using Photo ID.
Device Compatibility and Versions
For the best user experience, mobile and tablet devices require minimum software versions.
- Android: version 8 (Oreo) and above, with devices that have a front facing camera
- Apple iOS: version 15 and above
Some earlier versions still allow users to access the NHS App. he NHS App team are no longer able to provide technical support for these versions
- Android versions 6 and 7
- Apple iOS versions 9 and 10
Patients without a mobile phone or device, or one that doesn’t meet the above requirement can access the NHS App is now available via the nhs.uk website

Once you have downloaded the App, you will need to set up a login to prove your identity. The app will then securely connect you to the information from your surgery. More information on how to log in without using your Photo ID
What does the NHS App do?
Your health
View your GP health record – view your medical history, test results, vaccinations, allergies, and medications – View your GP health record Information.

Register your organ donation decision – Manage your organ donation decision on the NHS App.
You can register a decision for the first time or change a decision previously made. Keeping this decision up to date helps families, should organ donation be possible.
Prescriptions
Order repeat prescriptions – Request repeat prescriptions without having to contact your GP surgery at a time that suits you. Select Services ‘Request repeat prescriptions’
See a list of your approved prescriptions in the App and get a barcode to present at any pharmacy to receive your medication.
If you don’t have a nominated pharmacy you can use the barcode to collect it from any pharmacy.
Nominate a pharmacy – choose or change pharmacy where your prescriptions will be sent to. Find out how to Nominate a pharmacy using the NHS App.
If you do not have a nominated pharmacy to collect your medicines from you can use the prescription barcode in your NHS Account to collect your prescription from any pharmacy.
Test Results
View Test Results – Having access to test results in the NHS App means you don’t need to contact your GP surgery to view your results. To see your results Go to ‘Your health’ – Select ‘GP health record’.
HbA1c test results are displayed in a graph allowing you to easily see trends over time.
To discuss test results Select – Services ‘ Contact your GP surgery for a document or update’ – Then select ‘I have an admin query’

You can contact the practice regarding various administrative queries. Select Services ‘Contact your GP about a document or update’

Get Fit notes (Sick Notes) – Request a Fit note if you’re unwell and can not work for more than 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays.

Appointments
Submit non-urgent medical queries to your GP – ask for advice, help with administrative tasks, or follow up on test results directly through the NHS app. Your GP will review and respond to your submission. Alternatively use Our Online Form. Select Services ‘Contact your GP about a health problem’
Manage Routine appointments with your GP Surgery – search for, book and cancel routine appointments at your GP surgery, and see details of your upcoming and past appointments.
To book a routine appointment Select Services ‘Check for available GP appointments’
Book and manage hospital appointments in one place – where enabled, patients can view and manage their hospital appointments.
You can choose your treatment provider from a list provided by your GP/referrer, and see information, including who to contact, waiting times, distance and booking details.

You can manage your referral if you were referred through the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). You can use the NHS App to book, view, reschedule and cancel your first appointment.
This means GP practices do not need to print or post booking instructions.

You can use this service to:

- check your existing appointment details
- change your appointment
- cancel your appointment
Send and receive messages
Receive messages and notifications – Receive and view secure messages from your GP surgery and get notifications through your phone or tablet.
Notification messages are only visible to patients that have their push notifications turned on. You can change this in your device settings.
Help someone else
Linked/Proxy profiles allows you to access healthcare services on behalf of someone you care for, where appropriate consent is in place and you are both at the same GP practice.
